Hariyali Teej: Modern India Blending With Traditional Uplifting Festivals

Festivals have always played an extraordinary role in everyone’s childhood be it in any state or country. As the coming of any festival, we always get super excited, forgetting every tension and stress for a while making everyone come together and enjoy the happiness.

Now I have realized that festivals play a magnificent role in overcoming any negativity or tough times we are experiencing, whatever the reason may be.

Nowadays people around me , including me, are more stressed with countless reasons, be it traffic on roads the smallest, queue everywhere even in the market , and struggle in almost everything smallest thing possible.

People forget to live life and celebrate it but continue doing all the hard work and pain to earn money not realizing money can’t buy happiness and time we all are losing focusing on the future.

I know working hard is so important in this competitive world but living joyfully in the present is even more important.

Yes of course we are not kids anymore and we should act as mature adults but one thing we should not forget is that we all have to keep that inner child alive to live joyfully .

Once we make ourselves happy then only we can make our surroundings and our loved ones happy.

Don’t worry about getting judged, you will even be judged ,even if you act as a mature one 😊.

Festivals are the reason when we can relive our childhood again, recall our memories of the yummy delicacies which were made at our homes during that time, dance with friends, enjoy traditional food together, perform rituals together which will be so much fun.

During the monsoon season the most colorful festival Teej is celebrated in northern parts of India .

Hariyali teej is the joyous festival of India celebrated with full zeal and happiness in the northern parts of India including rajasthan , haryana , punjab and uttar pradesh .

The festival is celebrated and worship of lord Shiva and goddess parvati with purity and simplicity makes the monsoon season more delightful and enjoyable .

It is believed that on this day, Goddess Parvati reunited with Lord Shiva after a long period of penance.

As a result, the festival is especially significant for married women but any woman and girl can celebrate with full zeal and joy.

They pray for the well-being of their husbands and seek blessings for a happy and prosperous married life and unmarried girls can also perform the rituals and enjoy the festival.

Anyone can enjoy the festival in India or outside the country by wearing beautiful traditional lehengas, in traditional colors, putting henna on their hands, dancing, and enjoying with friends .

Enjoying amazing traditional delicacies and I must say you should eat traditional delicacies wherever you are celebrating this festival,as you will able to connect with the joy and happiness same as celebrated in India and if you are in India, especially northern India you can experience the zeal of this festival in every market, temples and special events and melas happening around, and it’s also clearly visible on the happy faces of women of India who get excited celebrating the festival with excitement .

Dressing in Green does not necessarily you can opt for beautiful traditional colors of your choices

Green colour plays a very important role during this festival as women enjoy wearing green saree , bangles, lehengas which symbolises the lushness of nature in the monsoon season and prosperity.

You will enjoy every color but if you are celebrating try some traditional outfits be it lehenga or sarees.

Lehengas are my personal favourite and more convenient one.

Mehndi and Solah Shringar(Makeup and Outfits )

Applying mehndi (henna) is an essential part of the festivities. Most beautiful designs of henna are put on the hands of women , hands are in a beautiful red henna color which in combination with traditional outfits looks amazing.

In addition, women perform the ‘Solah Shringar,’ which includes sixteen traditional adornments, enhancing their beauty and celebrating femininity. You can choose the way you want to look good but dressing in full Rajasthani style makes you more excited .

Wearing beautiful traditional bangles, earrings, and pieces like traditional dressing style will make you more joyful

Swings and Songs

Swings are hung from the trees , and decorated with flowers is the most attractive aspect of this festival.Women enjoying in the swings , singing songs and bhajans and enjoying with other ladies creates amazing vibe during this festival season

The people from anywhere can enjoy the beautiful rituals by dancing to their beats or can try traditional folk music of India.

Fasting and Prayers

Women love to keep fast during this festival and perform rituals and prayer for Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva . They pray for the prosperity and wellness of their spouse

In temples, special prayers and rituals are conducted beautifully

You can enjoy the festival without fasting too, if not possible due to work commitments or as per your choices, and enjoy the day with other ways of getting ready traditionally going to teej events and enjoying yourself.

Sweets and Delicacies

Being a big foodie myself I will not forget to recommend to you the mouth-watering delicacies of this amazing festival as I am always super hungry for every delicious delicacy made in this festival in a very traditional style and help all of us to recall our childhood memories connecting to our roots and tradition.

On Hariyali Teej, traditional sweets like ghevar, malpua, and kheer are prepared and shared among family and friends.

We can also try traditional bedmi Puri with aloo sabzi, mirchi vada with chutney and scrumptious dal bati churma, my favourite as I am rajasthani. I always get excited while thinking of the taste of these amazing dishes.

These treats add more sweetness to the celebrations and are eagerly awaited by everyone, especially children .
